  • GT-R track wheel/tire combo options?

    My friend, with a bone stock GT-R, asked me what wheel/tire package to get for track use. After looking around a bit everything looks like a compramise. I figure this is a more focused forum that could point me in the right direction.
    He probably will not want to have to roll fenders. I think he wants something he can just slap on.

    Michelin Pilot Super Sport (PSS) were popular and quick in the One Lap of America. But they are pricey. R888s fit but I like the NT01 better but i'm not sure if there's a NT01 that fits.

    The newer stock Dunlop was very quick too.

      If you were buying a new set of wheels for track use, would you run 20s? I think he cares more about grip than cost, it's just tire sizes are very limited in larger diameter wheels.

          Wow, thanks for that link!
          It doesn't look like nt01s or ra1s come in 305s anymore. So I think it's between 275 square nt01 and oem Dunlop 285 square. Leaning toward nt01.

            NT-01 comes in 315/30/18. I used them on my C4 on 18 x 10.5 wheels. I don't think NT-01 ever came in 305. A set of 4 of the 315s is about $1,200. But your friend has a GT-R, so he has money to burn.

              The outer diameter for the 315s are too small. Needs to be 25.5" or more to keep the computer controls happy. At least that's what I've heard.

                Aren't the Fontana guys running a fair bit under the stock overall diameter size, - Nitto NT01 315/30-18 tires?

                  I assume these guys don't use the traction control. My friend does. Otherwise 315s would be awesome.
