  • Why no v8........?

Question for you guys, why is it that I've never seen a v8 track miata? I've been tracking for 4 years now and have not once I've ran into one.

I'd guess that it's because it's big money to do the conversion properly, covering all bases besides the swap itself, such as: brakes, bodywork to accommodate huge tires, huge tires, etc. At the end of the day, a person with that kind of money could buy a z06 and probably go faster and look good while doing it..

Big tires? I'm pretty sure 245 rc1's would be fine

Because it would be like a 5ft girl with double D's. It is sort of cool and all but in the end just does not work.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

I see V8 Miatas on the track all the time. They are called Z06s.

It dated one with F's. I'm not even a boob guy and it worked very well.

Danny George competed at Super Lap in his Formula D V8 Miata and did a 1:53 with no aero and 15's IIRC. No one does it because a properly swapped and build V8 Miata is going to be $$$.

^^ That and the car is huge fun built the way it is. Add a radiator, brake pads and roll bar. Go.

I like the idea of an NC with a SBC more than an NA or NB. Although those CARB legal LS3s I think sound like a good idea for going in my Smurf, wish I had the budget.

That is until you drive a well built Rotrex. You never drove Deviate with the blower (300+whp). Instant power, and gobs of it, everywhere. Easily converted to CARB niceness.
Oh yah, you can install the production kit in an afternoon without raising the car off the ground.

It was the ride with you in the JR NA that got me to buy an NA. I don't think I would ever do a V8 swap Miata, just fun to think about. If I ever felt like my NA6 needs more power than a 1.8 can provide, it will most likely come from a JR Rotrex.
