    Curiosity question: Why do German cars use wheel bolts from the factory rather than studs?

    For the same reason that they would use 4 color coded electrical connectors for what most Japanese manufacturers would solve with a zip tie.

        duh !! because ARP Bolts is an American company and don't make metric studs

        ARP do have Japanese catalog, but no German catalog....

            I am no engineer. I will give it a shot:

            there are less parts count. 4-5 less per wheel

            You can add offset wheels easier

            technically stronger as most studs are pressed in.
