  • Corvette C5 - Cage and more!

Staying on topic with all the recent C5 talk on track HQ, we just finished putting together the cage / safety setup for the new Tway Motorsports build,
The car came stripped and left to get full paint and wrap treatment, so everything left the shop bare, hopefully Jim shares some pics once it's all shiny

    All of the triangles!

Driver side door bar got a special treatment for extra elbow clearance, a sore spot for many caged Corvette owners -

Don't mind the loose straps everywhere, we just put the nets on for the pics and they'll have to come off for paint -

Driver view inside and out -

Driver seat mount integrated into the cage and has the mounting spots for all 4 lower belt built in -

Roof structure was stripped leaving only the skin, allowing for additional headroom by adding both height and width to the upper section of the cage.
We added mounts for the skin into the cage, making sure the bodywork lines up as good as it did from the factory (if not better, we don't need no stinkin' shims!) -

    Enjoy!

Wow! That level of bareness makes for good bones for a C5 track weapon. Nice job Moti. I like your cage design.

Don't forget to seal the cabin holes/openings from exterior gas tank and fuel lines.

Our work on this car is done, but I'm sure Jim knows that he needs to seal it up

If you're going to do 170 MPH...

You must be talking about when Robert Hall is racing the car. I have never seen Tway break 70 MPH on track without pitting and running to the little boys room. ;-)
