  • Crew for Team 949 Racing

    Team 949 Racing

For 2012, we are expanding the size of our team significantly. We have gone from two cars at each event to as many as five cars per event. If there any TrackHQ'ers out there that are interested in joining our race team as crew, the next event at Thunderhill May 19/20 will be a great opportunity to come train with us. Some of our crew do every event including T25. Others can only do a few events but the help is always appreciated and you get to be a part of some thing pretty cool (winning). We also do one or two Chumpcar events for training.

Contact me through our website email for more info.

I would offer to help at Buttonwillow this weekend, but I already volunteered with another team. I can help in June. October, too, probably, if for nothing more than the education and experience.

Let's do a little review here. You asked for Brett's help AFTER he volunteered to help another team. He offered his free help for two other events this year, and you give him the razz? Not the best way to get volunteers . . .

I know your cars had them, and I appreciate it. I'm having a new batch of decals made—finally—right now.

I took the vectors Manly gave us a few years ago and made our own oversize three color die-cut decals for every car we race.

What is exactly needed to be on crew? For fueling, you need a full fire retardant suit correct?

I recommend this for anyone interested, even greenhorns. Top-notch people who truly appreciate a bit of hustle and savvy thinking. Bring your enthusiasm and have a blast! Had more fun than I did crewing for a Grand Am team a few years back.

Be careful though, Manny's a hugger.

Im very very interested! Just wondering for logistics, would we have to drive ourselves to each event (Thill/Buttonwillow/Infineon) for example? Or will there be carpool arrangements. I always wanted to crew on a team in Endurance races. I guess this weekend is tryouts for various positions. GTA will be on the same weekend as well. So it should be good fun all weekend with lots of action.

Oh yea for 25hrs of Thill. With 5 cars being entered, does that mean 20-25 drivers? So the shorter races 3-6hours its probably 2 drivers per car or something?

logistic - either car pool with us (but we usually stay a bit longer, double dipping sprint races also, leaving late Friday, coming back late Sunday) or drive up yourself (will reimburse for fuel). We need most crews starting 6 hours before Enduro and an hour or so after the race is over to pack up, but sprint races also need some skeleton crews. Will cover your food bill while at the track. lodging if required.

will train you. even if you are not mechanical skilled, we still have a lot of fun positions like fueler and belt man. for few that's technical, we need someone to be in charge of all race radios, crew radios, race monitor, video cameras and so on. if you like to cook, we also need a cook (at T25)
