  • Laguna Seca in Crusher April 2012

Event was the annual Miatas at Mazra Raceway Laguna Seca put together by Rick Weldon. Not a race, just a fun gathering with lots of track time.

First session on hand cut Conti Grand-Am (Hoosier) wet radials. Kooky grip

Fast lap of the weekend of the weekend was my very last of the weekend, 1:42.1. That's about 145whp with a temporary engine just for this event.

    SuperMiata

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

Emilio - very nice lap that 1:42.1. But going that fast, don't you think you should wear a fire suit? I know it's just an HPDE-type event, but you are in a full-on race car running very quick laps at a track that has some things you can hit.

2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - my last track day car (FOR SALE or not, depending on how I feel when I fall out of bed tomorrow morning)
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .

      Is Crusher a five- or a six-speed?

This wasnt a full on SV hpde. It was a Mazda sponsored event. All socal drivers were told to dial it down a bit. Emilio actually left a bit on the table.

Main purpose was giving rides. Street car (95) was giving rides both days. Including Bryan Wood, sonny in his MSM, and Gordon in his 400whp monster were all part of LS Taxi fleet.

        It is a 6 speed.

Really? Only the socal drivers had to dial it down? That's embarrassing for norcal .

What's new about that, typical for norcal based non SV event...

I think it's more of an HPDE thing. Maybe in NorCal the fast guys move into racing sooner.
I'm not a fast driver but I've experienced the slow NorCal HPDE drivers a few times up there.

And the crowds. Have you ever been to a NASA event at Infineon? It's a madhouse, and you have to pay double and run in two groups to get enough track time.

That is just amazing to me. I've said it before: Emilio should be racing professionally.

Heh, racing doesn't work like that.
