  • 1999 Mazda Miata | Clean, Track Ready, Low Mods, No Rust

    Location: Lexington, KY
    Price: $6499 OBO
Contact: John Rougeux at jbr0908 at gmail dot com

This is a clean Miata you can take to the track a few times a year, do the occasional autocross event, while still have fun on the street with and even drive to work. It's lightly modified, as I've only made the changes necessary to meet the safety requirements of a track day.

Why am I selling it? I hardly have time to drive it and it doesn't make sense to let it idle in my garage.

If you want a fun car that's still highly reliable, this is it. Or if you want to take things further, this example is a great foundation to start with.

For a walkthrough of the car, click here to watch this video I put together: https://youtu.be/pVd9tFzzYnM

And here is a full photo gallery: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NxRLbD6aEm8S0h7f2

There are a few quirks about the car you might want to be aware of. The power windows work fine, but they are slow to operate. The door on the center console is starting to come loose. There is a bit of paint fade on the tops of the side mirrors. Other than that, the car runs very well.

A few notes about the seat, harness, and rollbar.

The seat is bolted to the chassis (this is typical for track seats and in some cases, a safety requirement). Furthermore, the floor pan was modified to accommodate the seat (this is also typical when installing racing seats, as Miatas have very tight quarters). I'm about 5' 11" tall, and it fits me just fine. If you are a couple inches taller or shorter than me, you shouldn't have any issues. If you are much larger than me, then be cautious about buying any Miata .

The harness is a 6-point harness that is mounted directly the to chassis and the rollbar (again this is a safety requirement). The factory seatbelt on the driver's side is removed. The harness is actually pretty comfortable.

The roll bar is a proper roll bar, it's not there for cosmetics. You can still put the top up, though.

All three of these things are a real pain to install (I have the scars to prove it), so this is a great way to get your hands on a track-ready Miata without all the headaches.

Thanks for your interest in this car, and please feel free to contact me with any questions. I am happy to arrange a test drive on evenings and weekends.

      For sure.

But - unless I am reading this wrong - a prior post would have been nice just to respect protocol.

That protocol went the way of the sheriff.
