  • Here is an awesome run from last place to first place in Trans Am racing

This is from Laguna Seca this past weekend. The driver, Thomas Merrill, went from last place to first place in the 100 mile race. This only shows the first lap, but it is an incredible lap... a full on passing clinic. It could have gone so wrong at so many places with 100 miles still to go, but it didn't.

There is some truth to that comment. Merrill is a great driver, but Laguna Seca is also his home track. If you put that together with a bunch of out-of-region racers and it is easy to see how he could dominate, but that passing was still impressive.

What on earth was he doing starting from the rear?

Some "drive your nuts off" last-to-first classics. No video, but very concise summaries for those with just a few minutes to spare:

He had car problems and he did not make qualifying.
