And the tach lied, and the sun was in my eyes...okay, it sucked.

And this is what happens when you take this .flv and upload it to Youtube:

It was provided; the actual mixing is from a company called RaceDV.

        Nice video Steve!

Do you have a higher quality version you can upload to TrackHQ? I think we are all spoiled by the 100mb uploads here. It is hard for me to watch YouTube compressed video any more.

I have to strip and edit the DVD itself when I have a chance. But sadly it doesn't make my driving any better

Well, I will say (in my very limited defense) that I wasn't focused on absolute time, and I was being kind and adhereing to their request to only hit 6000rpm. So there's a couple of places where I rolled out a couple of moments early and coasted. (such as at the entry to turns 2/7/silly startline chicane)

I hate my speeds through Turn 1 and 2; I think Turn 1 definitely could have been quicker; I probably should have gone up to 4th, and then also used that all the way around to Turn 3. And I know I'm slow at picking up the throttle. Probably left braking action on the table as well.

Assuming I get a Spec Racer Ford, I'm really really REALLY going to have to work on higher cornering speeds.

I wouldn't sweat it... that's almost my HPDE motto... "Slow and Easy like Roger and Zapp!"

I uploaded a much sharper flv (basically, the source of what I had tossed into youtube) but I can't figure out how to link it in.

It's in my video/picture gallery though.

It's very simple. All you need to do is copy and paste the "Linked Thumbnail" code from the bottom of the page where your vieo is located on your post. Like this below. BTW, much better quality.

                    PHP Code:

Oh cool! I'll fix that at the top now. The difference in quality is entirely Youtube's recompression since it's the same source.

Sadly, better resolution didn't make it faster

Yes, youtube sucks. BTW, you should leave the youtube link so others can compare the difference in quality.

One thing I will say...looking at the people who were faster, is that at least their cornering speeds weren't a LOT higher; but they were pushing right up to the 6800 redline (while we had been asked to shift at 6000), and carried speed deeper (where I was pretty much intentionally trying to be easier on the car).

So I don't feel AS bad. But I can't wait for the 29th at Buttonwillow where I'll get a full day of testing the SRF car.
